How the Hebrew language reveals the trinity – part 2

This is a follow up to what I wrote a year ago:-

Has anyone told you that the Trinity isn’t true?  There’s a fair amount of people with this kind of idea in the theological mixed bag of the internet.   Unfortunately, this confuses people and does much damage and I’ve had to counsel people whose walk with Lord has been derailed by this sort of stuff.

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

trinity in Genesis1To flatten this constantly repeated lie, head to biblehub.com. This is a brilliant web site for thorough drilling down into the scriptures looking at multiple translations and the original Hebrew and Greek.

Look at multiple versions, what do you see?   You can do a Control F on your computer as I have shown, see every single translation is the same old and new.  But what about the original Hebrew?

My Hebrew isn’t good enough to translate all of this.   You can look up the Hebrew here.

This particular word is familiar to Jewish people.  One of my Israeli Messianic Jewish friends in Jerusalem showed me this whilst I was learning Hebrew in her kitchen;

Elohim / אֱלֹהִ֔ים

Anyone who knows Hebrew will know that if you add ים / im on the end of almost any word, it makes it a plural, just like adding S on an English word.

For true followers of Christ, the trinity is 100% genuine concept.   It is not a word found the bible, but it is a tool or a measuring item to show the Godhead.  Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one but also three separate parts.

  2. I notice in your article you seem to forget that the writer of the Bereshith lets the Most High Elohim Elohim speak, like all important figures would still do, in the Pluralis Majestatis and that you did not notice that Moshe gives the words spoken in the Royal We and afterwards always writes “said He” (singular) or “did He” instead of “did they”.

For Moshe and all other writers and prophets, like for all People of Israel, it is clear that the Eternal Creator God is One Singular Spirit Being.

  3. True followers of Christ should follow the teachings of the Nazarene rebbe Jeshua, who as an Essene Jew was a very devout lover of God and worshipped the God of Israel Who is a singular eternal Being, meaning a god who has no beginning (no birth) and no end (no death). Jeshua also never thought himself to be a god or the God. He clearly knew he could not do anything without God Who he considered also much greater than him.

The trinity is not at all a 100% genuine concept for Christians. Only trinitarian Christians want to keep to that false human doctrine which entered Christendom in the 4the century. It is good you recognise is is not a word found the bible, but also the concept is umbilical. The tool or a measuring item you refer to show the Godhead. Father, Son and Holy Spirit to be one but also three separate parts is clearly a polytheist thinking certainly worse than some other polytheists their godheads, because some religious groups having different godheads which have all the same quality and character as the main godhead, whilst in Christendom the three-headed gods have different attributes which are not equal. As such the divine Creator God is all knowing, being the Omniscient to whom man can do nothing. Jesus is not all knowing, had to learn everything and at the end of his life still did not know a lot of things. He even did not know when he would be returning or who would be seated next to him; In case he would be God he would have been lying, because god knows everything. Also the God of creation can do everything and be everywhere, whilst the god son of the trinitarians could not be every where and could do nothing by himself.

Jesus made it clear that he was not telling his own words but the Words of God Who had authorised him, as his heavenly Father, to do those things.

“27 “What I am leaving with you is shalom —I am giving you my shalom. I don’t give the way the world gives. Don’t let yourselves be upset or frightened. 28 ¶ You heard me tell you, ‘I am leaving, and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would have been glad that I am going to the Father; because the Father is greater than I. 29 “Also, I have said it to you now, before it happens; so that when it does happen, you will trust. 30 “I won’t be talking with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me; 31 rather, this is happening so that the world may know that I love the Father, and that I do as the Father has commanded me. “Get up! Let’s get going!” (Joh 14:27-31 CJB)

“17 ¶ But he answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I too am working.” 18 This answer made the Judeans all the more intent on killing him—not only was he breaking Shabbat;but also, by saying that God was his own Father, he was claiming equality with God. 19 Therefore, Yeshua said this to them: “Yes, indeed! I tell you that the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does, the Son does too. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does; and he will show him even greater things than these, so that you will be amazed. 21 Just as the Father raises the dead and makes them alive, so too the Son makes alive anyone he wants. 22 The Father does not judge anyone but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father. Whoever fails to honor the Son is not honoring the Father who sent him. 24 Yes, indeed! I tell you that whoever hears what I am saying and trusts the One who sent me has eternal life—that is, he will not come up for judgment but has already crossed over from death to life! 25 Yes, indeed! I tell you that there is coming a time—in fact, it’s already here—when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who listen will come to life. 26 For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has given the Son life to have in himself. 27 Also he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Don’t be surprised at this; because the time is coming when all who are in the grave will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done good to a resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to a resurrection of judgment. 30 I can’t do a thing on my own. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is right; because I don’t seek my own desire, but the desire of the one who sent me. 31 ¶ “If I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is not valid. 32 But there is someone else testifying on my behalf, and I know that the testimony he is making is valid— 33 you have sent to Yochanan, and he has testified to the truth. 34 Not that I collect human testimony; rather, I say these things so that you might be saved. 35 He was a lamp burning and shining, and for a little while you were willing to bask in his light. 36 “But I have a testimony that is greater than Yochanan’s. For the things the Father has given me to do, the very things I am doing now, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.” (Joh 5:17-36 CJB)

“Yeshua replied to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me; because I came out from God; and now I have arrived here. I did not come on my own; he sent me.” (Joh 8:42 CJB)

Real Christians should believe Jesus is the sent one from God, who is authorised by God to do those things, and who is now made higher than angels, though was lower before (remember God was, is and always shall be the Most High), Jesus now made into a high priest in the order of Melchizedeck and a mediator between God and man, seated at the right hand of god and not on God’s seat.

Every real Christian also should believe God Himself Who declared Jesus His sent one and only begotten beloved son.

“3 So it is with us-when we were “children” we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe; 4 but when the appointed time arrived, God sent forth his Son. He was born from a woman, born into a culture in which legalistic perversion of the Torah was the norm, 5 so that he might redeem those in subjection to this legalism and thus enable us to be made God’s sons. 6 Now because you are sons, God has sent forth into our hearts the Spirit of his Son, the Spirit who cries out, “Abba!” (that is, “Dear Father!”). 7 So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son you are also an heir.” (Ga 4:3-7 CJB)

“30 The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Miryam, for you have found favor with God. 31 Look! You will become pregnant, you will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua. 32 He will be great, he will be called Son of Ha‘elyon. ADONAI, God, will give him the throne of his forefather David; 33 and he will rule the House of Ya‘akov forever—there will be no end to his Kingdom.” 34 “How can this be,” asked Miryam of the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered her, “The Ruach HaKodesh will come over you, the power of Ha‘elyon will cover you. Therefore the holy child born to you will be called the Son of God.” (Lu 1:30-35 CJB)

“and a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; I am well pleased with him.”” (Mt 3:17 CJB)

“While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them; and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!”” (Mt 17:5 CJB)

““Here is my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will announce justice to the Gentiles.” (Mt 12:18 CJB)

  4. CJB as in the Complete Jewish Bible by David Stern? this is a very modern version which is intended for religious Jews by using transliterated Hebrew for certain words. Its not intended to be a ultra literal translation. I don’t know many people in Israel that use it.

Here’s some verses that show Jesus is God –

    John 10:30
I and the Father are one.

    John 1:18
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

    John 14 : 8
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” 9Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, carrying out His work.…

  5. The oneness of Christ and God is of the same value as we do have to be one with Christ and God, do you think that would mean we are becoming Christ then and shall be God? I hope and I am sure you you do not.

The oneness is a unity of thought, being one in mind.

Which translation do you prefer to use?

    John 1:18 (ASV)
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

    John 1:18 (RNKJV)
18 No man hath seen the Father at any time; the only begotten Son, which was in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

    John 1:18 (TS2009)
18 No one has ever seen Elohim.b The only brought-forth Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He did declare. Footnote: bJoh 5:37, Joh 6:46, 1Jn 4:12.

Nowhere is written ” who is himself God”

Jesus might be a god but not the God. He is the sent one from God who made God known or declared Him by interpreting the Elohim.

    John 1:18 (WPNT)
18 No one has ever seen God. The Only-begotten Son, who exists in the bosom of the Father, He has interpreted Him.
